Steve is Professor in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Liverpool from where he obtained his MEng and PhD degrees in 1983 and 1988 respectively. His current research focuses on Mass Spectrometry and Instrumentation and he is founder of a spin-out company in this area. For his work on portable mass spectrometry Professor Taylor was awarded a DSc in 2013 from Imperial College (London) where he graduated in 1978. He is author or co-author of over 340 published papers, patents and articles in scientific literature and Fellow of two Professional institutions. He has held visiting Professorships in two other Universities and has collaborative links with Universities in Europe, USA and China. He is married, has 4 children and 2 grandchildren and serves as an elder in his local church. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Theology (PGDip).
