EBC has always been as flexible as possible in the way that we have made teaching and training available so that we can reach as many people as possible. Now we have put in place what we call a Hybrid Learning structure that, we believe, enables us to offer students an all-round training and equipping for Christian living and ministry, taking advantage of the opportunities afforded by technology while holding on to the need for hands-on experience and in-person study and mentoring. The best training for ministry involves a combination of class-based and mentored, hands-on, experience. EBC students will have both.
The core elements of this Hybrid Learning approach are:
1. On-line
Through virtual classrooms, students can now join a class from wherever they are in the world. Already we have students who login from USA, Canada, Poland and elsewhere.
2. Church-based
The involvement of the student’s home or placement church is critical and a vital part of training for ministry. Each student who is pursuing the Diploma in Applied Theology will be mentored by the appropriate spiritual leader(s) as they gain practical experience.
3. On-site
Some modules will be taught during residential weeks at EBC’s base in West Lothian, Scotland. Others will be taught in regional learning hubs we are developing in Northern England, London, Northern Ireland and perhaps even further afield, as well as at our base. These learning hubs will meet simultaneously on a weekly base, with students receiving a mixture of livestreamed teaching and in-person study, guided by a local church leader.
4. One-to-One
Every student will be allocated an EBC Tutor with whom they will have regular one-to-one sessions, either in-person or on-line
