When Paul tells Timothy to be an unashamed workman, “rightly handling the word of truth” (2 Timothy 15), he is, by implication, highlighting the fact that there are incorrect ways of handling the Scriptures. This important course will keep you right.
This course would be of immense value, not only to those who are preparing to teach or preach God’s Word but, indeed, to all believers who want to get more out of their Bibles.
Objectives:
This course is designed to give the student the necessary skills to correctly apply principles of interpretation to any part of Scripture, both in their own reading of the text and also in their preparation for any ministry.
Outcomes:
On successful completion of this module the student will
Head
- know and be familiar with the disciplines for correctly interpreting any passage or genre of Scripture; recognise and avoid the wrong ways to handle Scripture
Heart:
- be able to correctly apply the correct hermeneutical principles to any passage or genre of Scripture
- develop a love of the text and the truth of the text in its context
Hand:
- be able to correctly apply the correct hermeneutical principles to any passage or genre of Scripture
Tuition
- The module will be taught over zoom on 20 Tuesday evenings between 7 and 9pm, with classes held fortnightly through the College year. Specific dates are available on request and will be given to enrolled students.

- The cost of the module is £300 for auditing and £400 for assessment (payments can be made in three instalments)
