Bible In A Day

We will be back in N Ireland the weekend after our Graduation Celebration when our Principal, John Brand, will be presenting his Bible In A Day seminar at Omagh Baptist Church on Saturday 5th October, and then preaching twice on the Sunday.  John has presented this seminar at numerous churches around the UK and is looking forward to presenting it in N Ireland for the first time.  More details in the publicity flyer.

There’s Still Time…But Not Much!

There’s still time to register for one or more of our autumn term modules, most of which start next week, Monday 30th September.   Practically, we can take registrations right up until the last moment, but it helps greatly to know in advance who is enrolled on which module.  We are encouraged by the numbers of those who have signed up for some of our modules, especially new students, but there’s always room for more.

Tomorrow evening – Tuesday – our Homiletics module begins.  This is a year long course in training preachers and If you would be interested, please contact us as soon as possible.

Every Christian Should Study Church History

Dr Martyn Lloyd-Jones once said, “The Christian should learn from history…it is his duty to do so, and he must rouse himself to do so.”  And, of course, history includes Church history.

If you’ve never done so, now’s your chance.  Over 20 Wednesday mornings, from 11.00am – 1.00pm, between now and Easter, Dieter Schneider will take you through the centuries, highlighting the most important people and events and drawing lessons for today. The course starts on Wednesday 2nd October 2024 and specific dates for the whole course will be provided.

The cost for the whole course is £300 if you just want to audit the module, and £400 if you want to complete any assessments and gain study credits.  Fees must be paid at least one term in advance and registration, which can be done here, is essential.

Is this the most important course we’ve never run at EBC?

That’s how I’ve been describing this new module to various people.   I am convinced it is an indispensably important subject and am encouraging everyone I can to sign up to it.

In a stimulating post on the Gospel Coalition website, Don Carson addresses the subject of Biblical Theology and identifies three reasons, among others, for its importance:

  • it directly addresses the massive biblical illiteracy now prevalent [in our churches]
  • it draws attention to the turning points in redemptive history
  • it enriches systematic Bible reading and is in turn enriched by it, and this prepares the way for mature preaching

Whether you’re a relatively young believer or a seasoned saint; whether you’re a preacher / teacher or Scripture or someone who just wants to get more out of their Bible reading, these two hours on a Monday morning through the autumn will, I am convinced, pay dividends.

Indeed, let me back up that confidence in two ways.  First, so convinced am I of the importance of the subject that I am going to take the course myself.  And secondly, if you register for the course and complete it and feel it didn’t deliver –  WE WILL REFUND YOUR MONEY!  That’s an offer we’ve never made before.

The course will run on Monday mornings between 11.00am and 1.00pm over zoom.  The course starts on Monday 30th September 2024 and specific dates for the whole course will be provided.

The cost for the course is £150 if you just want to audit the module and £200 if you want to complete an assessment and gain study credits.  Fees must be paid  in advance and registration, which can be done here, is essential.
