Over recent years I have presented my Bible in a Day seminar to 100s of people in numerous churches around the UK and also in Poland. That seminar is still available but I am now developing a new one called A Day in the Bible and have already got bookings for it in Liverpool and Omagh in the autumn.

This seminar addresses two hugely important subjects –

Session 1: The Story of the Bible

• How did we get our English language Bibles?
• Why only 66 books – why these 66 and who decided on them?
• What do we make of The Apocrypha and other extra biblical literature?
• Why do we still need new versions and translations?
• How do I choose the best version to use?

Session 2: The Doctrine of the Bible

The Bible is:

• Inspired
• Infallible
• Inerrant
• Authoritative
• Sufficient
• Clear

There will be lots of notes and visuals, opportunities for questions and answers, and a book containing all the contents of the seminar.

We are always looking to strengthen our already formidable team of adjunct lecturers and have recently added two new men who will be teaching in the summer term.

Rev Ben Fiddian studied Genetics at the University of Sheffield and Theology at the Wales Evangelical School of Theology in Bryntirion, South Wales. He has served in a variety of ministry contexts in the UK and overseas and is currently exploring research interests in the challenges posed to faith and religion by secular multiculturalism. Based in St Andrews, he enjoys walking his dogs on the local beaches.  He will be teaching Pneumatology, the doctrine of The Holy Spirit.

Jamie Gallacher is ‘one of our own’, having graduated from EBC with a Diploma in Expository Preaching (Honours) EBC in 2017 and a Licentiate in Theology in 2020. He then undertook further studies at Highland Theological College and graduated with a BA(Hons) in Theological Studies.   Jamie is currently planning on doing a 1 year top up Masters at Edinburgh New College and then hopefully a PhD in Textual Criticism.  He will be teaching Introduction to New Testament Greek.

Each month we produce a very brief powerpoint presentation with a few headlines for prayer and praise.  Our hope and prayer is that individuals who support the work might find them useful but also that church fellowships might take a few minutes each month in their prayer meeting to remember the work before the throne of grace.  We usually produce the presentation at the turn of the month but, for various reasons, the March one is a little later than we had hoped.

The Christian life is a spiritual life, because the Holy Spirit should be at the heart of our daily Christian experience. There is no Christian life apart from the presence, power and resources of the Holy Spirit.  This course will seek to teach clearly the biblical truths about the person and work of the Holy Spirit, while also addressing the areas of controversy and confusion.

Taught by one of our new Adjunct Lecturers, Rev Ben Fiddian, the course will run over 10 Tuesday mornings, between 11.00am and 1.00pm, starting on April 29th, and since they are held over zoom you don’t even need to leave home!

There are two ways to get involved:

• You can audit the course – simply taking part, enjoying the teaching and online fellowship, and benefitting from lots of notes and materials; cost £140
• you can submit assessments – completing an assignment for marking and gaining EBC study credits; cost £200

This module is a study of the biblical teaching on the doctrine of God, focussing on his being, attributes and the Trinity. It is designed to stir our hearts to worship the incomprehensible yet knowable God. As Dr Martyn Lloyd-Jones once said, “There is no doubt but that 99% of our troubles as Christians is that we are ignorant of God.  We spend so much time feeling our own pulse, taking our own spiritual temperature, considering our moods, our states, and fears.   Oh, if we had but had some conception of Him, the inconceivable glory of God.”

Taught by our Principal, Pastor John Brand, this module will be held on 10 Wednesday mornings between 11.00am and 1.00pm.The classes are held on zoom, so that wherever you live you will be able to take part.

You can simply audit the course and benefit from the teaching and fellowship, or complete an assignment with a view to gaining some study credits. Full study notes and recordings are included in the price, which is £200, but only £140 for the auditing option.

Most Christians are probably familiar with John’s Gospel and his Revelation but probably less so with his three letters which come almost at the end of our New Testament. Yet these three short letters have so much with which to instruct and guide us today.   Each term we try and run one module that is more devotional as well as teaching, and John’s Letters are our choice for the summer term, so if you would like some online devotional fellowship with other believers, why not join us?  The course lecturer is our Principal, Pastor John Brand
