John Brand, our Academic Dean, gives an update on the Church Workers’ Conference of the Africa Inland Church – South Sudan that he is due to lead in Adjumani, northern Uganda, in early September.

It is, as they say, all systems go for the conference in northern Uganda in early September. Things are really coming together now: my tickets are booked and I have my visa; the conference centre and accommodation in Adjumani is booked and the programme has, more or less, been confirmed. You can see a provisional copy of the programme here. Today, even as I write, the church leaders are meeting in Adjumani to finalise arrangements for the 50 delegates who are expected to attend from South Sudan and Uganda.
But in many ways, the hard work really begins now. You will see the subjects for the conference in the programme, and I have a lot of material on all of this. The challenge now is to rework it and make it suitable, relevant and applicable for this particular group of people. Please pray that I as I work on this in the coming weeks I will know, as I have done so often in the past, the Lord’s help and leading so that in ways I couldn’t have known beforehand, time and time again in the conference itself, it will be clear that the Lord was speaking into current situations.

Financially, the total raised now stands at £4,800, just £1,200 short of the target; so we now have finance in place for 40 of the 50 delegates. God is so good! Please would you share this need with anyone you think might like to support it and contribute to it. My hope and prayer – indeed my confidence – is that this figure will be exceeded so that we can cover some extra expenses and costs and so bless these good folk.
For example, over and above the actual conference costs, I am hoping to take with me copies of the book, ‘God’s Design for the Church: A Guide for African Pastors and Ministry Leaders’ by Zambian pastor Conrad Mbewe. 10 of Those have kindly promised me a 40% discount on a bulk purchase, and this would add £450 to the project total.
Could you or someone you know help get us over the target amount? Donations can be made by electronic transfer to John’s ministry account:

Thank you again for standing with me and with the South Sudanese Church.
