The Class of 2020

Because of the current lockdown restrictions we are obviously unable to publicly celebrate the achievements of our 2020 Graduates – at least for the time being. We are hopeful of being able to do so later in the year.

In the meantime, over the next few days we will feature our 7 graduates of 2020 and commend them to your prayers. Perhaps, as you read their stories, you could see yourself as an EBC Graduate in 2021 or 2022! Why not get in touch with us and explore possibilities.

Ryan McKernan

Ryan has graduated with Licentiate in Theology (with Distinction), having successfully completed our new Advanced Ministry Apprenticeship Programme (AMAP). This is a 9 month vocational training programme, conducted in diverse ministry settings under the leadership of EBC and external mentors.  (More details here)

Ryan says, “I joined EBC in September 2017 and have benefitted immensely from my experience there and my placement fellowship, Grace Community Church, Broxburn. The opportunity to serve there and put into practice the gifts that God has given me has been a great blessing.

Honing those gifts with the knowledge gained in the Diploma course and AMAP through various aspects of ministry have helped my development and prepared me well for future ministry. This was in no small part due to the vast ministry experience of the teaching staff in the college which provided access to a wealth of biblical knowledge and practical ministry wisdom to learn from.

One of the stand out qualities of the college was the flexibility that enabled me to learn around some difficult personal circumstances. It really exemplified a level of grace that I found humbling and I am grateful to God for my time at both EBC and GCC.

We would really appreciate your prayers for a ministry opportunity suitable for myself and my family.”

Study the Doctrine of the Last Things with EBC

Martin Luther said: “There are only 2 days in my diary – today, and THAT day” (i.e. the day of Jesus’ return). There is no shortage of teaching, viewpoints and theories about the return-of-Christ and the end-of-the-world.  This course will major on the biblical certainties, while acknowledging the different views held by genuine believers. We’ll cover such subjects as: death, heaven and hell, the return of Christ, the millennium, the resurrection of the dead and the final judgment. (Unless, of course, Jesus returns before April 30!)

Lecturer: Rev David Randall, Falkirk Free Church

Because of the current circumstances, this course will be taught via a virtual classroom, using zoom, and we are opening it up to anyone who would like to join us.

It will be held on 9 Thursday mornings from 11.00am – 1.00pm, starting on Thursday 30th April. The usual cost for this course would be £180, but we are offering it on a donation basis to make it as accessible as possible.

Those joining this course will have the option to complete an assignment at the end and thereby acquire some study credits. If you would like to join the Eschatology virtual classroom, please complete the simple registration form which you can find here, make a donation following the directions given on the form, and we’ll get back to you.

We expect considerable interest in this and our other planned virtual classroom courses and may have to limit numbers, so we would ask you not to register unless you fully intend to do the whole course. Thank you for your understanding.

Unlocking Revelation with EBC

In general, people have one of two opposite and extreme approaches to Revelation – they either become obsessed and preoccupied with it, or they avoid it as much as they possibly can; they either become caught up with, and even dogmatic, about the interpretation of the symbolic nitty-gritty and detail, or they find the whole thing so perplexing and confusing that they simply keep away.

Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.

Revelation 1:3

In this module we will work our way through this last book of the Bible in 10 studies, giving you the keys to make sense of its complex structure and contents and do so in a way that will be edifying and spiritually profitable.

Study the Psalms with EBC

The Psalms have been described as the national hymn-book of the Old Testament people of God, expressing every emotion of the human heart and experience.  The book of Psalms also gives us words we need to communicate with God in our worship and in our day to day lives.

This devotional course is designed to familiarise you with the origins, structure and literary style of the Psalms and to make the Psalms, collectively and individually, more accessible.

Our hope is that as a result you will make much greater use of the Psalms in your personal walk with the Lord, thereby enriching and maturing your spiritual life and worship.

“…making the best use of the time” (Ephesians 5:16)

Many of us currently have much more time available to us than we are used to and we want to help you make the best use of it. Almost everything we teach at EBC is available as an online course, with full teaching notes, often accompanied by PowerPoint presentations and mp3 recordings of lectures.

Why not take advantage of those extra hours you have and do some extra in depth study of the Scriptures? You can find a list of the individual subjects that are currently available here, and we are regularly adding others to the list. Prices start from as little as £15!

You can complete assignments and accumulate study credits towards an award, or you can simply benefit from the teaching without submitting any work.

If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact us at info(at)edinburghbiblecollege.co.uk

Open Door Day

One week from today – Thursday 6th – is our 2020 Open Door Day at EBC. It’s a great opportunity to find out more about the College – sitting in on lectures, talking to students and staff etc. If you, or someone you know, is considering doing some Bible College training, why not come along? A light lunch and refreshments are provided and there is no cost. We start at 9am and finish at 4pm. We are already very encouraged by the number of those we know are planning to attend but there’s always room for a few more. Please would you share this post and make it even more widely known.
